EAA Chapter 150 Bar-B-Cue

May 7, 2005:  The weather was gorgeous, the food was good, and conversation was great.  Chapter President Steve Balding hangs up our banner outside the hangar of the airport manager, Frank Zarski.  The turnout was a good one as this was a combined meeting/event with the Chattanooga Flyers Club.

What could be better than a cold drink, a comfortable chair in the shade, and a cool breeze blowing down the runway and taxiway at your favorite airport hangout?

The view looking north to the end of runway 21 at Collegedale.

And of course, the view looking south toward runway 3 and the rest of the flight line.

If you saw the recent documentary about "Chasing Lewis & Clark" you saw a lot of aerial photography taken from this airplane that is based here at the Collegedale Airport (3M3).  There is also a book that outlines the trip.

What do you do with a hangar that has a disassembled airplane in it?  Why add a motor home and invite the local EAA group to come over for a cookout!

This Cessna 182 has STOL modifications, and a canard added up front.  We asked the question about what is the lowest speed the young pilot has flown this airplane.  The answer was a shocking 25 MPH!  Notice that even the ailerons have the extended Fowler Flap configuration!
