The Big Tree Removal · · PAGE 14.
August 25, 2014: The time now is 11:19 AM as
another section of tree will be prepared for removal. There is more blue sky
visible.
The limb at the top will be cut off between the ropes seen here.
And now the large limb is hanging from the rope ready to be lowered to the
ground.
While the ground crew cuts the big limb to go into the trailer, Ed is the man
at the top of the action and begins the next steps to bringing down the large trunk in
sections.
The ropes must be placed correctly to manage the weight of each log as it is
cut from the tree. The chain saw is now the tool of choice.
The log swings free on the rope and starts the trip to the ground. A log
this size would crash through the roof if not properly rigged with the heavy rope.
The lift is used again to move the log away from the house.
The lift is moved again to get closer to the action above.
The log that came down was cut on the ground seen in the photo above, and
hauled to the street in this photo below.
The next moves are discussed during a short break while the lift is prepared up
by the house.
The logs keep coming down on the rope. The diameter of the logs get
bigger, and they can get heavier unless their are cut to shorter lengths.
Progress is quicker now that the small limbs are not part of the logs that are
coming down at this time.
