Clearing Some Shrubbery · · PAGE 59.
May 9, 2018: There were two
plants in front of the house that were in the way when I needed to put up the
ladder to clean out the gutters safely. I did not take a photo of the
first plant being removed. I have changed one sprayer to a rotating
sprinkler head to cover some bare spots in front of the walkway from the drive
way to the front door.
The bottom of the plant is a large root system that was very hard to
remove. The shovel would cut through sections of the roots to be removed
in small groups.
This photo shows about one-third of the roots turned upside down, which is
still a heavy thing.
I have been considering bringing up some turf grass to put in the
depressions left after removing both plants.
Clearing the Area Before New Raw Materials Arrive.
May 19, 2018: More activity out behind
the house by the construction crew as more green pipes have been delivered.
Recent rainfall has created some mud and wet spots out there.
These photos were taken using my camera tripod and my zoom lens settings
to keep them better focused.
May 30, 2018: I was away for a few days
in Jacksonville with my wife and found these long 3-foot diameter concrete pipes
have been delivered to the job site. These will be for the storm drains
from the streets. All the manholes that were installed and connected with
the green PVC pipes are sanitary sewers.
Digging and moving earth is going on with two of those dump trucks working
with that scoop shovel. Now you see it...
...and now you don't. The shovel is digging deep into the ground
excavating a retention pond area.
June 2, 2018: I took these next photos
today when I was flying my airplane this Saturday morning. I maintained
about 2,000 feet above the ground as I turned EAST and followed the Melbourne
Tillman canal that passes just south of the house in Palm Bay. Here is the
first of two images taken of the housing project that is just north of my home.
This image is clipped from the big picture above. The 1351 marks the
location of the house hidden by the big oak trees. The outline shows the area being converted from the
abandoned golf course to become home sites. The work began in January 2018.
Today is the first time I took any aerial photos of this project.
Here is part of the second image I snapped in the flyby. The
construction crew has not been working much this week after the Memorial Day
holiday. The water retention ponds are all visible from above as a result
of the recent rains.
Now the area seen above is starting to resemble the plans from page 49.
