David Edgemon - Finishing Everything!
July 10, 2004: Saturday again and I am off to see
my friend David Edgemon in the Huntsville, Alabama area. He is painting his RV-9A at
home and I have a few pictures for you all to see. He has also made some
modifications to his fuselage skin between the firewall and instrument panel for
maintenance access as you can see below. He has a tip-up canopy fuselage.
This is a simple modification to keep the fuel line from hitting the firewall
between the gas colator (blue) and primer solenoid valve slightly above and to the left of
the gas colator.
Way back at the aft end of the fuselage, just ahead of where the horizont
stabilizer will be attached is this remote magnetic compass sensor that is aligned to be
parallel with the Dynon D-10 in the instrument panel. An outside air temperature
sensor is connected to the same cable and it is attached to the LEFT elevator control arm
access plate in the second photo below. The plate is painted RED, the same color as
the wings, tail parts, wheel pants, etc.
Speaking of tail section and etc. -- here are some smaller pieces that
are finished and hanging in the garage attic. Those are gear leg fairings that you
see in front of the gray seat cushions.
Here are both flaps and one aileron sitting on the opposite side of the attic
floor along with the aileron push rods that have been removed from the wings. By the
way, the wings and the horizontal stabilizer are painted and stored in the garage attached
to the house on a roll around stand, I just forgot to take a picture of them.
